Copenhagen, September 20. Green Therma, a leading innovator in sustainable energy solutions, has partnered with SONFOR, the renowned utility company of the municipality of Sønderborg, to embark on a groundbreaking project aimed at revolutionizing geothermal energy for heating. This collaborative effort will see the development of the Heat4Ever integrated solution, a cutting-edge technology designed to harness the Earth’s natural heat.
The cornerstone of this endeavor involves drilling a single well approximately 3-4 kilometers deep and extending it in a horizontal section, then utilizing the state-of-the-art DualVac technology to harvest the heat. The Heat4Ever solution will be installed to facilitate efficient heat transport from the toe of the well to the surface.
As part of the agreement, both Green Therma and SONFOR will make joint investments and commit their expertise to the successful realization of the Heat4Ever solution at a designated SONFOR location. SONFOR will have exclusive access to the generated energy, which will bolster its district heating network with an anticipated production capacity of 1-3 megawatts. The ambitious goal is to complete this transformative project in 2025.
In the event of a successful outcome, Green Therma and Denmark stand to gain invaluable proof of concept and experience from this pilot project. This will serve as a pivotal stepping stone towards the widespread adoption and commercialization of the geothermal solution, Heat4Ever, for district heating not only in Denmark but also globally.
