Hamburger Energiewerke and Green Therma sign letter of intent

The use of deep geothermal energy as part of the decarbonization of Hamburger Energiewerke’s district heating network is a promising option. Hamburger Energiewerke and Green Therma therefore want to jointly investigate the application of Green Therma’s Heat4EverTM solution in Hamburg’s central and decentralized district heating networks.

Hamburger Energiewerke is Hamburg’s municipal energy supplier, covering the whole value chain from energy generation to distribution and customers. The company is one of the largest municipal energy suppliers in Germany and is wholly owned by the City of Hamburg. Today, it supplies around 25% of Hamburg’s municipal heating and promotes renewable energies for heat and power generation in order to drive forward the energy transition in Hamburg. District heating generation is to be coal-free by 2030 at the latest and climate-neutral by 2040.
